New USB 2.0 over IP Server
Today we announced a handy new gadget that transforms a USB Printer or storage device
into a shared peripheral directly on the network. The LINDY USB 2.0 over IP Server
allows users to connect their peripherals directly to a LAN switch or router eliminating
the need for a host computer to be turned on in order to access functionality.
Easy to install, the IP Server simply needs to be connected using standard cables and the supplied software installed to enable shared access. Once connected users can access a printer as normal by selecting it from the Print menu in any application or, in the case of storage devices, it will appear in My Computer as a local drive.
The inconvenience of having a peripheral connected just to one computer in a networked environment can be annoying, even when it's shared. Our IP server is a simple way for home users and small businesses to easily put their USB printers and storage devices directly onto the network, eliminating the need for a host computer to be turned on in order to use them.
Advanced USB Storage features also allow users to manage the IP Server, change its settings and protect it with a password, using the Web Control utility. The LINDY USB 2.0 over IP Server is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and works with TCP / IP, WSD, UPnP network protocols.
